Afternoon Baseball

Well, Kris Benson was traded to the Orioles. An odd deal that no one really seems to have a handle on yet.

This continues the streak of Mets players being Santa Claus for kids, then leaving the team. However, John Franco and Mike Cameron at least made it through the following season. Benson didn't even make it through the arbitration period.

I looked for official reactions, but Kris Benson's website hasn't been updated in almost a year. Anna Benson, on the other hand, has pictures of her lying on a floor in a maid's outfit. She's beyond parody. Amazing.
However, the New York Times had this: "Anna said in a statement released after the trade that she and Benson looked forward to "christening the parking lot" at the stadium, referring to her desire to have sex at every major league park."

From a, um, baseball standpoint, the Mets clearly made a mistake signing him, and figure that Julio has more upside. Still, you have to think the Mets aren't done moving players around.
