I apologize for stealing the title to Chasing Amy, featuring another deadening performance from Ben Affleck but reaffirming the greatness that is Jason Lee. I feel like less of a man having even admitted to knowing that much about the movie. But hey, you watch one of those Kevin Smith movies and you have to keep going and watch all of them. It's like a bizarre little chronicle of an alternate universe where the same six people are always doing stuff, but playing different characters. And one guy never talks.
Anyways, wow, what a terrible segue into the drama that is Mr. Mia Hamm and the greatest post-WWII pitcher, Roger Clemens. The Yankees are "not optimistic" that the 1997 ROY and two-time batting champ with the highest single-season average for a right-handed batter since Joe D. will want to be a 1B/DH for the Yanks, despite pitches from Joe Torre and Jason Giambi. (Baseball Musings has comments on the article).
Meanwhile, Roger Clemens realizes that he can do whatever the hell he wants, and he's going to wait at least until January to decide his fate. Can't really blame him, especially when everyone is salivating to have a piece of the Hamstring-Pulled Rocket. Hell, when Chuck Finley hanged it up for good before 2003, the Cardinals waited through May, thinking he'd want to come back to them after May 1. But since Finley had post-traumatic stress syndrome from his wife kicking his ass, he stayed put. If Finley, a good but not great pitcher, got that much leeway, Clemens could come back in August and still be a hot commodity.
