In other words, it doesn't prove a damn thing. Cases in point: Gonzaga and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Do I have any doubt that the Cavs will continue to be good, since they have more than one good player now? No. They are for real. How real is the question, but at least we're looking at a legit playoff team.
Gonzaga may be the only team ever to go from Cinderella, "how do they do it?" to overrated, "pencil in early exit when it counts." If not the first team, they are surely the only team to do it in a span of five years. They play UConn in the Maui final, the team which ended their Elite Eight crazy run in 1999, a feat they have yet to match (although you could only say they started choking in the last 2-3 years).
Let's check back in March, for the Zags, and April/May for the Cavs.
