Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

Gothamist

For at least the first ten years. Has so many of the highlights, including many I saw and some I didn't know about. Also reminds us of early characters like PimpBot 5000, or Carl "Oldy" Olsen, the old guy who sometimes would be in skits, who died in 1998. In some ways, it reminds everyone of the Andy Richter era -- stupid comedy that would not make a Conan broadcast today, but paved the way and reflected the screw-it, loose-improv feel that the show used to have before it knew how to actually do a late-night show.

On the other hand, back then, if the skits sucked, that was it. Since Andy's departure and continuing today, Conan has grown as a host who commands his own show.

Sorry, I'm on a Conan kick because it's so tough to find good clips available online anymore. I'm stockpiling.
