Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

ESPN.com recap
Giambi has made a lot of people eat their words, at least temporarily. Still, hard to argue that playing Tino, in his last gasp, in May was the wrong move. I argue at Baseball Musings that perhaps everyone giving up on Giambi was the thing he needed most.

Meanwhile, Melky Cabrera made his major league debut in center for the Yankees, the first to do so playing center for them since Bernie...exactly 14 years ago. Just one more in a series of torch passes.
