Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

Yes, I'm stealing the latter half of the name for the original Star Wars movie. But that's what's happening now. Randy Johnson was Randy at his most dominant tonight. He has been that way a few times this year. But this was a big spot, and he lived up to it. Most importantly, his body lived up to it.
A-Rod got in the act with a HR early, and later, Jeter bunted on, allowing the late inning rally that put the game out of reach. For once, an all-around solid team effort.

By the way, great pitching throughout the majors tonight. The Blue Jays, shutting out the A's. Oswalt throwing a complete game and getting the 2-1 win on a bottom of the ninth HR. A couple other very fine pitching performances as well. And of course, the 11-10 Red Sox-Devil Rays game.
