Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

This is becoming a real problem. Rivera actually got booed today after his latest Red Sox meltdown. Now, I wasn't worried after last season or even yesterday -- he had probably his two best statistical seasons in 2003 and 2004, and last playoffs he was clearly overworked even by the time the Minnesota series rolled around. He even took a month off after the season, citing exhaustion.
Now, I'm hoping that the extra time off is just setting him back a bit in his usual preparation curve, i.e. he's in March mode still. It's too early to panic, though.

The 1998 Yankees started 0-3 remember, but then went on a 31-6 en route to a 125-50 record (including the postseason).
