At least he's keeping his team somewhat in the game, with 3 runs in 5.2 innings and counting. But 84 pitches and 9 baserunners in the first 5 innings is not going to get it done.
Being overly harsh? Perhaps, but only because if a team consistently plays behind with a certain pitcher, they start to expect it, and then the offense doesn't come out of the gate strong, nor does it stand tall and rally when facing a deficit. Brown may prove me wrong, but how many 40-year-olds suddenly turn it around?
