Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

Wow. What a surprise that Kevin Brown's back is already bothering him. Either that, or he begged out because he had already given up 4 runs and 6 hits in 3 innings.
As the Yankees increasingly have made grasping-at-straws decisions over the past few years, trading for Brown and absolving the Dodgers of his $30 million is easily the decision that never looked like a good idea. Even if it meant getting rid of Jeff Weaver, whose biggest fault was that he required a little coaching, something Yankees pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre doesn't do.
He just expects pitchers to show up ready to go (and who can blame him, with all the veterans they've had) so he BS with them and bemoan how good he could have been if Tommy John surgery had been invented yet.
